Progress 2

Today we have created a new scene which is set after the opening fight between me and Toby. In this scene we see each member enter the stage to meet Freya and Dom then continue with their work. Meg enters first followed by Kia who is then ignored by Freya when Carl enters with an injured Toby who is then taken for medical care.  After a bit of small talk between them all, I enter through the audiences as a stranger who is looking to join, Meg, Carl and Kia pull out a gun. They place me on my knees with my back to them at which point Dom finds out information on me then says I’m clear. After this I meet the leader (Freya) who then calls up everyone to introduce themselves. After this I’m told I have to go through an initiation to get in to the group.

We created the initiation piece by setting Carl, Kia, Toby, Dom and Meg across the stage as a multiple split screen to show the challenges I do, I interact with them by crossing screens. The 1^st one is fitness with Carl which I fail as I can’t do push up’s, next is Weapons with Kia which I also fail as I drop the magazine and almost hit him with the gun. My 3^rd part is fighting with Toby which I fail as I hit him in his bruise, after that it’s tech with Dom which I fail as I break one of the computers. My final task is shooting with Meg, I first go in really confident as I think it will be easy as it’s a girl but I make the mistake of calling her “sweetheart” which causes Meg to point a gun at my head and insist on not saying that again. She gives me the gun then tells me to shoot the target, as I fire the gun the recoil launches the gun in to my face at which point I fail.

The last piece we devised was the scene where Freya kicks me out for incompetence, while I’m packing my stuff they start planning their next move to take out the cameras, there plan is to take out sector B which is where i inform them that there has been a change of positioning of the cameras. They ask how I know this, I tell them that I am the head camera tech for Jamie; they take advantage of my knowledge and join me into their group. During this Carl takes Freya away to tell her how he doesn’t like me and believes I’m a spy.

Progress 1

Today in Lesson we have created our opening to our show. We have Carl come out in to the centre and give a monologue about the past couple of years that lead to Jamie taking control of the world. This monologue explains the collapse in economy, the falls of democracy, the creation of the terrorist group against Jamie and how Jaime put up the cameras which enslaved the world as there were no more secrets due to this after the Monologue Carl vanishes into the audiences.

Our next part we did was our first group part where we had Dom and Freya right at the back of our staging area and everyone else behind the audiences. As a policeman I come out with a piece of paper that will have a picture of the terrorist’s logo that are against Jamie and ask the audience if they know anything about them. During this the members behind the audiences and at the back of the stage start speaking there lines as they are on a mission at this second to turn off some of the cameras in that area. Toby enters on stage and starts graphing there logo when I notice him so as policeman I approach him. This starts a fight between me and toby which ends with him on the floor and me punching his face repeatedly. Kia then comes in and tackles me off him then they both start beating up the police man until Meg and Carl pull them away which is the end of the scene

Devised Piece Plan

Name: The watching

Our new idea for the Devised piece is to do a futuristic world that has been taken over by a person called “Jamie” who has taken advantage of the fall in economy. He has taken over the world in the style of “big brother” by placing cameras all over the place so no one can hide anything from him. There are a group of people who are a terrorist group who want to kill Jamie and planning to free the world of the cameras. They have found the only place in the world that has no cameras which they use to their advantage in planning to over throw Jamie. This group doesn’t have many members or have done much to change things since they have started as Jamie just keeps putting up more cameras. The group believes there is hope for what they’re trying but only their boss releases that what they’re trying to do is a hopeless case. Our big plan for a plot twist is that the boss of the terrorist is Jamie; he has done this to get all the people who are against him in one place and eliminate them so there is no one who can oppose him. After Jamie has killed most of the gang the second in charge comes in and kills Jamie and then takes over the world as a new Jamie. Another twist we have done is that we create Jamie as a girl but no one knows this till the end.

Plot:

·         Monologue from Carl (Ex Solider) - Describes what has happen to the world and how Jamie has taken control.

·         A mission by the Terrorist to take out some of the cameras.

·         During a celebration of the success of the mission a newbie enters asking to join.

·         During a plan for the next mission between there group then Newbie enters and suggest ideas for improvements. Solider becomes suspicious of the Newbie’s knowledge.

·         A scene between Kia and Toby happens to show their friendship but also their crush on Freya.

·         A scene between Meg and Freya is next which show’s their friendship.

·         Toby and Kia each individually go to see Freya to show their love.

·         Carl dose a look in the Newbie’s stuff and believes he is Jamie.

·         Carl convinces everyone the Newbie is Jamie and they capture him.

·         The love triangle of Toby, Kia and Freya falls apart.

·         Meg and Dom interrogate the Newbie.

·         The real Jaime (Freya) comes in and kills them all except Meg.

·         Meg then Kills Freya and becomes the new Jamie.

Our original idea for our piece has problems with creativity as we ended up planning on performing a film so we have decided to look into more ideas for the how or look into changing our original idea and make it more unique. One of my new ideas is:

Idea 1

My new idea for our theme “chasing pavements” is a performance where each member of our group dies and is about what the afterlife is. We could each have a build up to a joint death at the start like a car crash and when the crash happens we could do a movement piece where we are flung across the stage. The next part could be that we are in the afterlife but we are not aware of it so as a group we end up talking about what happened as well as why we are here.

Idea 2

Chasing the life we all want but have never gotten. We each have a goal in life but have never gotten it because something is going on in our life’s that is holding us back. There can be a story for each of us going on at once and the performance could alternate between the stories.

Idea 3

A “day of the dead” idea, this is where half of us are spirits from another world who can only come back to the living world once a year which is on Halloween night. We would create multiple stories to follow about the spirits who came back and who they met.

Idea 4

Inspired by big brother saying they have taken over the world and cameras are everywhere so there is no privacy in the world. This is about a group of rebels who try to turn of the cameras so they can have their privacy back, this is about chasing freedom.

Research notes

Chasing Death
“Ghost Stories” is a play written by Jeremy Dyson and Andy Nyman. It premiered at the Liverpool Playhouse in February 2010 before being transferred for a longer run at the Lyric Hammersmith in London. It then transferred to the Duke of York's Theatre in the West End where it played from June 2010 to July 2011. The show re-opened at the Arts Theatre in February 2014 and is scheduled to be running until January 2015.
The play is notable for running only 80 minutes (with no interval) and for its publicised warnings advising against anyone under the age of 15 attending. The marketing of the show outside the theatre is unusual in that there are no production photographs, just stills and video monitors showing the shocked reactions of audience members. An announcement at the end of the play asks the audience to "keep the secrets of Ghost Stories" so that new audiences do not have the experience spoiled with any prior information about the play.

Brainstorm 1

Today we found out our groups for the next unit which is to create a devised piece that is between 20-30 minutes long around the song “chasing pavements” by Adele. My group for this task is me, Toby, Carl, Meg, Dom, Freya and Kia. This lesson as a group we brainstormed ideas we had around the song.

These ideas are:

We debated for a while about the realism and what we could do with the ideas, in the end we focused on the ideas of Game show, Would you rather, Horror House, Flash backs and Seven deadly sins. We created a bigger expansion of what we wanted to do from these ideas.

We thought about the seven deadly sins and decided we wanted to change them around to create better characters for our piece; we kept Pride as we liked it to show off our host and we also kept Sloth but reworded as lazy. We then created the rest to suit the environment and plot of the story we will create.
